Today didn’t go as well. I thought I was all ready to delete my google accounts from my android phone … and I did and then the problems showed.
The biggest by far is the Google Play Store app, needed to download just about anything on the phone. Without a google account it won’t work. There are alternatives (I’m learning) like Samsung App Store (I have a Samsung) but that didn’t have what I needed.
What I NEEDED was an app to replace Google Authenticate. So I had to re-enable my google account in order to use Google Play Store to download Proton Authenticate. I also needed to re-apply another two google accounts to my phone so I could see the keys I wanted to export FROM Google’s authentication to Proton’s.
So..now I have proton installed and can use it for two-factor auth, and I again, deleted the google accounts from my phone.
Something tells me its only a matter of time before there will be something else I can only get on Google App Store..and I’ll be doing this again. This really sucks.
