If for some reason you’re interested what my ‘new beginning’ is and want to stick around a little longer:
My goal for the next few months is to get off of as much US-based “big tech” as possible. (Gmail, Google, Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Chrome, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter to name just a few). I’m not saying I won’t ever look at a YouTube video again. I just won’t have their app installed on my devices. If I do visit youtube.com it will be on a browser does not track everything I do.
Some things will be easy technically but challenging mentally. It’s fairly easy to uninstall Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, to swap from Chrome to another browser that doesn’t track your every mood. Finding a replacement for Google Maps might not be feasible at all.
I don’t know how it will go. But I plan to try, and I’ll be documenting some of my finding here. Which, now maybe you understand why you are reading this here, and not on FB or some social media platform.
No reason for me to get into the ‘why’ right now. I can talk about that another day.
